Alexandra Burke and Battlefront campaigners, Hope Milne and Abby Thackray, have set a new Guinness World Record for the most sign ups to the organ donor register in one hour, with an amazing 321 sign-ups.

To achieve this world record, the Battlefront team needed to get at least 100 people to sign the organ donor register within the allowed time.

Alexandra Burke took part in the very special event at London’s historic Covent Garden, pairing up with Hope and Abby from Sign Up, Speak Up, Save Lives get as many people signed up as possible. Three people die every day waiting for an organ and Alexandra’s mother is herself waiting for a kidney transplant.

T4 presenter Jameela Jamil hosted the day’s campaign whilst Alexandra Burke also took to the stage to sing her hit single ‘Hallelujah’ as well as ‘Perfect’, before inviting Hope and Abby to join her. The girls were then joined by a group of young people who have all received life saving organ transplants. These walking miracles told their stories whilst each releasing a heart shaped balloon in honour of their donor.

She then sounded the klaxon and, under the watchful eye of adjuducator Justine, the record attempt began.

Hundreds of people flocked to the Battlefront stall, and our amazing team of runners led by Battlefront's own Rory, were ready to sign them all up!

As the results were counted, it was a tense moment. Had we done it?

Course we had! Battlefront absolutely smashed the record and managed to get 321 people signed up in just an hour!

The day was another massive leap forward in Hope and Abby's mission to get more people talking about organ donation. Next stop, getting it on the electoral roll... watch this space!
