Well done Ella! I had no idea you were involved in disability action. (btw its Mrs Dowsett from school!) You may or may not know that our son has severe low functioning autism and I am friends on fb with Paul Richards (who plays in Heavy Load). I am not able to come to the event but fully support everything you are doing. Brilliant!

Hi Ella!
I found out about your campaign through Mcfly on twitter and started following you and am so glad I did! I am currently studying Special and Inclusive Education at Nottingham Trent Uni and feel quite strongly about the treatment of young people with disabilities. Your campaign obviously looks at challenging people's views and the way they react to people with disabilities; looking at them as a person not an impairment. I know you have probably had a lot of offers, but I would love to be involved and help in any way I can, whether it be events or publicity, particularly through University. My email address is [email protected] so feel free to get in touch!
I'll continue to follow and support your campaign and I really hope it makes a difference!
Hey! At the moment we are sort of drafting ideas for events but there should be some ways to get involved in the new year and it would be great if you could help! Keep in tune with the twitter, facebook and youtube for details and I'll let everyone know ASAP!
this is such an inspirational campaign, this effects most people and we should be able to treat everyone the same x
Thanks so much for supporting! We are coming up with a way to get the disabled and abled interacting more so keep following to get involved!
Hey fellow battefronter! I'm encouraging people to pass on a pie to their neighbour this Christmas as a way of introducing themselves. Here's the event page, hope you're attending: http://on.fb.me/ftfn9m/
hey! I've already spoken to neighbours about passing on a pie! but the link doesn't work!
I think it's good that people starting to understand people with disabilities. I know how it feels to be judged, as I have a disabilty. It is unfair what people think, and people will eventually understand what we have to go through everyday. I am so glad that someone is helping us, thanks Ella.
Thanks for your support, my campaign is about being treated like a human, not like a child. A person with a disability is still a person, and should be judged on their personality - which I am not saying you have to like!
I think this is such an inspiring campaign because many people dont know how to act around people with disabilities and they feel as if they have to shout or act differently around them. This is a brilliant way of teaching people how to treat them, and i am definitely going to back this campaign! :D:D
thanks so much, please spread the word! Assemblies or school events are great ways of getting others involved!
I decided to back this particular campaign for a number of reasons; without a doubt you can tell that it has a positive message, but personally, this cause means more than that. At age 17, I can tell you that there are numerous occasions that I have felt different, out of place and perhaps sometimes just not quite good enough, you'd be hard pushed to find the average teenager that hasn’t - but disabled teenagers, adults and children? They should be our inspiration. They don’t deal with a minor problem like a spot or a bad hair cut for a month or so, they face their difficulties for life. Honestly, I have never seen a disabled person who hides there face and is to ashamed to say "this is me, and yes im not quite like you", the overwhelming majority are proud. So who are we to call it a disability? The word disability implies a hindrance, something that is faulty when in reality, a disability is just one of the many things that makes a person unique, we all have those little traits don’t we? I think that it is time we all get over our fears of talking to a disabled person, really, they're just like you and me and they could be one of the best friends that you have ever had.
i think its important to get the awarness out about disability and "disabled people" shouldn't really be treated with sympathy..they just want to be treated normally!! people feel the need to stop and stare whilst going past when they're just as normal as them on the inside! <3
Thank you so much for your support, make sure you get your friends to follow the campaign too and keep updated for ways to get involved soon!
