'University fees are unfair. Doesn't everyone deserve a free education?'
For young people, especially students from a working-middle class background, university fees are a massive deterrent to higher education. Young people shouldn’t have to start their careers already owing money or be put off going to university by the fees. In my opinion, university education should be free for all students in the UK regardless of wealth, social class or personal circumstances; in fact, regardless of anything…

Just to say i totally agree and support this campaign i'm just sorry i only found out about it now else i'd def have come on that march! And I think the problems not just for the working class, obviously it effects them most but I'm from a working/middle class background and hoping to go to uni next september but don't know if i can because my dad has to support my sisters and family too so might not be able to get barely any funding from them which means i'll have to have a gap year to get some money which doesn't seem fair. We are meant to live in a society that promotes equality but we cant even get equal chances at education! Not good!

Hi Imogine/Danile. Thanks for writing on my page, and thanks for the support. In response to Imogine and the petition on the number Ten website, i have had a look and signed my name to it! Furthermore, i have sent the link out to loads of ppl on my facebook and e-mail, so hopefully they will spread the word n sign the petition as well. Thanks for sending me the link - that’s was really helpful! To Daniel, i would be happy to help and give you the reasons why im for abolishing uni fees and against the idea of lifting the cap on fees. As u might have read in my recent blog, im mega busy with sorting out my stunt and event in Parliament (trust me - its manic !!!!) but once the event is over, il get it all down in a proper long blog/e-mail thing n get back to you. Thanks again fot ur support, n keep up the fight against fees! James x x

Imogine, 23 March 2009 13:50
hi james, im a second year student at oxford brookes and producing a persuasive arguement on the abolishment of student fees. you seem very passionate about this cause can you give me any informaton or facts that could help me in producing a great arguement for the abolishment of student fees and the right for free eduacation?

Hi Max/Saskia Thanks soo much for ur messages of support they are really appreciated!!!!!! I absolutley aggree with the poinht ou made, saskia, on the idea thgat those from middle income backgrounds are particularly deterred from going to university. It does actually seem that the system the Governmment has in place supports either the poor or the affluent - and nt hose in between - simply becuase those from average family backgrounds do not seem to qualify for an adequate grant to sustain them at Univresity. Anyhows, im going to keep up the work of the camoaign, especially with regards to getting ready for my buf campaign event in Parliamentr on 1st April (see my next blog entry for info)- so catch u later. James x x

In the (hopefully) event of Uni fees being abolished, uni's could be funded by the money that is given to footballers and/or models and ridiculous careers like that. ...Well that's what I think anyway.
maxi, 09 March 2009 13:46
i don't even know if i'm going to go to uni but my brother is studying engineering at the moment and loving it. Fortunately my parents are paying. They've never spoilt us but they realise that they have to pay this big sum for fees because university is that important. I'm extremely lucky that I have parents who have saved enough to be able to pay, not many people have that. So why do the government focus on trying to give equal education and opportunities to people of all backgrounds just to let it be wasted? most middle and working class can't afford university and if they go they end up in so much debt that even education can't break the 'cycle of poverty'! scotland can do it free, surely we can do it cheap?
saskia, 09 March 2009 07:26
Hi Everyone!!!! How cool is it that we have the support or Naomi from skins!!!! Anyways, thanks for all ur support so far - lets keep up the pressure and the momentum going- and who knows what we culd achieve??? Take care, James x x x x x
