Sew Your Own

Popularity: this is the 57th most popular campaignSew Your Own is a youth led initiative with the aim of reducing the waste caused by fast fashion. At present, the project consists of three elements: clothes collection, “up-cycling workshops” and a fashion show. But this isn’t enough and in order to spread this message to masses this small-scale project needs to be turned into a large-scale campaign. Having researched into young people’s attitude towards “sewing your own”, I found that their main concern is that the end product will “look bad” and that they “have no time.” With this in mind, I want to dispel these preconceived ideas and encourage the creative confidence that some seem to lack showing that “sewing your own” is quicker and easier than it looks; and showing young people, and older people alike, that you can indeed work with what you already have.
