PEOPLE HAVE THIS DISTORTED PERCEPTION THAT IMMIGRANT MEANS ILLEGAL AND EVEN WORSE IF YOU’RE HAVING ISSUES IT MEANS YOU’RE A CRIMINAL WELL I WANT TO REVEAL THE TRUTH.
I chose this because it affects me personally. In 2002 we moved to London with our mother (Lwindi Jalloh) on a work permit although she later found out she had lung cancer which later spread to her brain and so my sister and i had to struggle seeing our mother get worse and worse each day until on the 18th July 2005 she passed away; she always fought hard but the doctors said there was nothing else they could do. Since then our Auntie, who is a British citizen adopted us and has taken care of us and after everything we just want to live a normal life but the Home office since 2005 has thought otherwise. We have been fighting for 5 years to get our indefinite stay and to get British passports and I'm tired of waiting. I’ve missed so many good opportunities and I don’t want my sister or I to miss any more.
Its hard feeling like an outsider, and even worse feeling imprisoned when you want progress in life, i feel like crying because i feel helpless and i know that there are thousands of other people like me and i want to be their voice!
I want the PM to amend the way the home office deal with immigration cases and to create an efficient process for immigrants waiting for decisions on their status, so as to reduce the timescale in which immigrants are constantly struggling to get a decision for their case.
