Campaign to banish the discrimination surrounding mental health
Alice Parmenter
Mental health issues are about as acceptable as turning up to college in the starkers. I want to raise understanding, especially in adolescence, at how mental illnesses can affect people in their day to day life. For them to understand that people like me don't choose to have mental health problems, they just happen, and having the discrimination isn't helpful in battling with such a dehabilitating conditions. I believe that raising understanding of mental health, and awareness of what to do if someone you know is experiencing a mental health issue, will make a massive difference in many peoples lives. Hopefully people won't be ashamed and embarassed to talk about their mental health problems anymore and it won't be such a social 'misunderstanding'.
