'Giving an umbrella to someone, carrying their shopping, giving away flowers to strangers... It can make your day.'
My campaign is to encourage and undertake random acts of kindness. It involves going around helping people whenever I can. I'm doing this because I feel more people should be helpful in more situations. People should be more positive and happier. It's always nice to make somebody smile.
- Meeting so many kind and interesting people: Kate Nash, the Kindness Offensive, Louise Burfitt-Dons and many more
- Persuading over 1000 football fans to hug at MK Dons Stadium
- Putting on my Kindival at Chelsea Art School on 25th April – it was a huge festival of kindness and a huge success!
- Getting so many positive comments from YOU.
- Send me your ideas of more random acts of kindness I can do
- Be kind!

I'm working with my school on an activity day for year 7 titled 'be the change you wish to see in the world' and came across you and the group he kindness offensive when seeking inspiration. I have contacted them and wondered if you, and anyone of your do-gooder army would like to join us in passing this message on to our students?

Thank you so much for my lovely pancake this morning and for making London a happier nicer place! It has made me feel smiley and less hungry inside. xx
Caroline Parker, 24 February 2009 14:33
You are GORGEOUS and if I wasn't married I would try and make you mine - I think you and everything you stand for is simply woenderful (thanks for the pancakes)
leah , 24 February 2009 12:19
Great work Tom - saw all the people going in to Ed's Diner this morning and thought I'd visit your site. What a positively grea idea and you are right - it doesn't take too much effort to be kind but it makes you feel a whole lot better about yourself!
Will, 24 February 2009 12:02
Well I am based in London but you can take part anywhere you like, Random Acts of Kindness is a universal thing, and shouldn't be limited to just one place! [email protected]
The Do-Gooder Army, 18 February 2009 08:49
Sounds great! Do you have to live in any particular place to take part?

Every time I buy something from tescos, (well almost)(when its something like a pastry or biscuits) i always end up giving it to someone living on the streets. This has happened a few times and i get a few odd looks (teenage girls dont usually do that) but it always makes me so happy. I also do st johns ambulance, so thats a more organised way of doing good- still makes you feel pretty good to put a plaster on someones knee, or clean up mucky marathon runners blistery feet. Have yet to see anything more serious than that though. I would love to get involved, absoulutely. Another thing i'm a big fan of is smiling at people (if they look like they might smile back)(Obviously dont want to scare anyone or make them feel uncomfortable)
