This is the 12th most popular campaign

"We got smashed last night." I hear this sentence way too often. Day after day I hear countless stories of when my friends have been out 'getting drunk'. I finally realised how bad it was when a group of girls, aged thirteen, said, "If you don't drink, you're no fun." "Fun?" I replied, "You don't know the meaning of the word." The picture on the left of your screen is of myself and some friends having a really good time; having fun. What's missing? Alcohol bottles. We get drunk on fun. There are so many ways of cheating the Drinking Bug. All you have to do is find them. Why waste time losing control of your own body, making a fool of yourself? Why have 'fun' and then forget about it by the next morning? A ‘booze up' lasts a night. A memory is for life. We're in. Are you?

Hi Amy, I work for the youth service in my local area in kent as a youth worker and drinking is a big problem with alot of young people and its on the increase, part of my job within the centre and out on the streets when i meet young people is to provide activities and projects that will engage the young people and show them there are other ways to spend their time rather than drinking. Its so important that there are youth centres for the young people to go to meet up with their friends and have fun. lets be honest alot of young people drink at night because they are bored and there is nothing for them to do, although i will say thats not an excuse for the drinking as i truley believe there are so many opportunities around today for the young people to go out and enjoy and not drink.

I agree with you. I agree over-drinking is stupid, i think its fair that a few drinks loosen u up tho and u shouldn't be penalised because of that, i drink sensibly and keep control of myself, more people should learn to control themselves and drink responsibly. I think the government should be less harsh on certain situations and tougher on others. For instance a 17 yr old could get locked up after just having like 1 unit, where as a 13 yr old could be treated exactly the same for having so many units that they can't count on their fingers and toes. Obviously its still better to have none at all.

I totally agree. Why is that drink and fun are suppose to go together? Sure a few drinks does losen you up but too often am I hearing, "I was so smashed I have no idea what happened last night!" And that does'nt seem to scare these people, which is where the real problem lyes. Young people are going out without planning to have a sobber friend or any safe garenteed way of getting home. The possibility of one of my friends being attacked whilst being too drunk to protect themselves scares me more than anything. And it's getting younger too. I heard a 13 year old talking about how she was so drunk she "got in with some guy" who could have easily been an innocent boy enjoying the party, or he could have been a rapist enjoying the oppertunity of these young girls who are not in controll of their own bodies. Whenever I go out I am the sobber friend, however I know of so many who dont even bother to let anyone know where they are when out drinking. Keep pushing your campaign, it's a huge problem which young people seem to believe they are invinciable from. Thanks Helen Michelle.x

I'm in (: Me and my boyfriend aren't interested in alcohol at all, and I'm trying to get my friends to have the same ideals. It helps that my dad hasn't had a drop of it for 3 years nearly, so it's not a bit feature in family life, and my mum only has wine on a friday when I'm at my dad's anyway. I never really see it being drank, and I don't particularly want to. If everyones so bothered about being shy then they really need to work on that, rather than making it worse by relying on drink.

i am sorry but i dont agree get drunk, just limit yourself...or unless you are at munich beer festival like i was a while back, get so drunk, u wee Scotch. u might aswell campaign to seig heil or sumthin...its is way too much fun getting drunk with mates, waking up to someone you dont even kno their name, and swearing to yourself that you already had a finger missing....but good luck getting teen yob rebels drinking cola on saturday nights instead :D
