STOP: Gun and Knife Crime

Alexander Rose London

'I was boiling inside and looked up to the sky and thought a life had gone for no reason... I just had to do something'

My campaign

Friends and family members have died because of gun and knife crime. I want young people to STOP carrying weapons and think about what else is out there, apart from joining a gang. I’m using T-shirts designs to fight the negative gangster image and I want to inspire others to do something positive too. Everyone can use what they have to do something.

My Campaign Highlights

- Meeting Bishop Desmond Tutu

- Meeting my mentor John Bird from the Big Issue

- Attending  the People’s March against gun and knife crime in London

- The Body Shop putting on a STOP event for my campaign in 100 of their stores

How can you help?

- Buy and wear one of my STOP T-shirts – and send me a pic of you in it

- Put up a STOP poster up in your school and youth club

- See if your school wants to put on a STOP workshop and let me know

Richard Penfold, 11 February 2009 13:06

Alex, im a secondary school teacher in Kent. I have been given the task at the end of the month to give an assembley on Gun & Knife Crime. If there are any resources/advice/information sheets going, it would be really appericated. Regards Paul

Alex, I watched your Stop the killing doc on BBC America. Your vision and passion is amazing I lived my youth year's in South London and even though it was 20years ago I know guns and knives were bad even then. I believe you CAN make a difference if we just had the first biracial president in the US, it's about time UK had a Black Prime minister.......It could be you. U'd like to help by doing some fundraising for you can you let me know cost of Tshirts and shipping to the States. As a business woman here, I have my own network of Brits I know we can help you out. Try and get some London Cele's to contribute I believe Leona Lewis comes from London made be she'll show some $$$ support. God Bless and Be Safe

Hi, we had a meeting at my football team the other week after some of our team mates had problems with knife crime, so we would all want to buy your t-shirts. how much are they and where can we get them from?

Ezra Nelson, 06 February 2009 00:39

I think what you do is really inspiring and I personally want to make a change to the local youth in my area. You have inspired me into trying for UK youth parliament. Can you send me some free t-shirts to help people in my area realise how many lives they are taking by carrying a knife. Thnxx

I have just watched the bbc one programme and feel sick to the core. What is happening to our world?? I know people who were victims of knife crime and it has affected them mentally as well as physically. I have two young children and feel scared as to what sort of world they re growing up in.Something has to be done

Donna-Marie Mchugh, 20 January 2009 22:23

hey, i think that gun and knife crime is getting out of hand as a teenager in london i constantly feel threatened to what could happen to me or people i know and love when we just walking down the street or going out. i think it's time that teenagers stood up and said 'NO' to gun and knife crime. people creating a thirdd world war for respect which they haven't earned and won't earn from killing others. this is why me and some friends have join a group called envision and we are working towards making london a safer environment for people, we are also trying to improve youth facilities so that there is a place for teenagers to go and get advice and try and change there lives around however we are looking for ex gang members or victims to tell there side of their story so that we can put it in a video and show other teenagers which are younger than us so that we can try to prevent them from getting hurt or hurting others. if any one would like to be in the video please let us know. thank you
