Did you know that 2.2 million pensioners in the UK live in poverty? That adds up to 19% of UK pensioners. Unless we do something about it, it is very unlikely to change. The main issues include pensions, poor housing and transport, fear of crime and the lack of contact with people. Take pensions for example, they are the primary source of money for elderly people in the UK. Yet nearly £4.2bn is left unclaimed every year. All that money left that could lift hundreds of thousands of pensioners out of poverty. If the government invested in a system that paid means-tested benefits to pensioners automatically it would take 500,000 pensioners out of poverty immediately. Millions of people risked their lives for our freedom in the First and Second World Wars and I truly believe that if they knew what live would be like now they might have thought twice.

100% behind you on this one, it is totally out of order to treat old people this way. What has the world come to?

I couldn't agree with you more, I support this over all the other campaigns because it is a cause that is not well known and doesnt get as much press and interest as some of the other camaigns. I give you my full support and I would love to help out.

I totally support you on this one. I have been personally affected by this. Until a couple of years ago I had to live with my grandparents because my mum did a runner. They had very little money and really struggled, in the end the social got involved and I had to be put into care as my grandparents just couldnt afford to keep me with them. I feel angry that the goverment could of done something to help and maybe I could of stayed with my family. I will do anything to help this campaign.

You know I honestly didn't think we had so many pensioners! Let alone that amount living in poverty the poor people. Like you wouldn't believe the figures for child poverty either!! I think you pose a really good point about how they were their for us in our war and now we forget about them. xxx

Good on ya girl! You are so right, I feel ashamed that my country treats elderly people this way.
